Saratoga Springs Church Wants a New Code Blue Shelter Built

A Saratoga Springs church makes a play to be the home of the city's code blue shelter.

Bethesda Episcopal Church is asking the city and Shelters of Saratoga to explore constructing a location at the site of Bethesda's proposed New Parish House and Community Center on Washington Street.

Bethesda is also offering to house space for a satellite office of the Saratoga County Department of Social Services.

Shelters of Saratoga have been in a legal battle with nearby residents who are opposed to the construction of a permanent Code Blue shelter.

The city's planning board recently delayed a vote on that proposed facility.

A public hearing will be held Thursday on the issue.
