Rally Held for Justice of Wrongful Death

A rally and march in Schenectady was held by Black Lives Matter and other community groups yesterday, demanding justice for Andrew Kearse, the man who died in police custody last May.

His family has seen dash cam video of the traffic stop that led to Kearse's death, and say he was denied basic medical care that could have saved his life.

One of the organizers of the event, Hawk Newsome, tells News Channel 13 they want the tape released to the public.

"This tape is so damning, it's so condemning, that's why they won't release it to the community of Schenectady."

Kearse died of cardiac arrest.

His family has filed a notice of claim against the City of Schenectady, which could result in a lawsuit for $25 million dollars.
