Protest in Troy Over Dahmeek McDonald Shooting Investigation

Protesters at First United Presbyterian Church in Troy gathered yesterday afternoon.

They are calling for the Attorney General to take over the investigation of the police-involved shooting of Dahmeek McDonald.

Organizer Tommie Weddington tells News Channel 13 this case cannot be cast aside.

"Police shooting unarmed citizens, we think that it's an issue that has to be taken seriously and can't be just assumed to be a norm, or, 'collateral damage,' if you will, of policing in the United States."

McDonald was seriously injured after being shot by Troy Police Officer Jarrod Iler, in August 2017.

The Rensselaer County D.A. has turned the case over to Schenectady.
