Utility Company Workers Slowly Beginning Power Repair

Crews continue the work of restoring power to customers throughout the state this morning.

Heavy, wet snow, and traffic accidents are causing lines to come down around the area.

High winds at times are delaying crews from beginning restoration efforts.

Nathan Stone from National Grid tells News Channel 13 there are some very important safety reminders to remember with this kind of weather.

"If you see a line down on the ground, just consider it live, don't touch it, call us. If you're running a generator, make sure you're running it outside where it's ventilated, every year, we seem to have incidents where somebody is running a generator inside, and it causes them harm."

National Grid is reporting over 1,000 total outages, effecting over 26,000 customers.

The New York State Electric and Gas Corporation is reporting 1,800 outages, effecting 95,000 customers statewide.
