Police: Steuben County Principal Kills New York State Trooper

A State Trooper was shot and killed in Erwin, New York in Steuben County early Monday morning.

29-year-old Nicholas Clark has been identified as the trooper who was shot and killed responding to a domestic incident at about 3:30 in the morning.

The man who shot Clark has been identified as Steven Kiley. Kiley's estranged wife called 9-1-1 saying that Kiley was contemplating suicide.

Police say that Kiley was barricaded inside a house and shot and killed Clark. Kiley then killed himself. He was the principal of the Bradford Central School District in Bradford, New York.

Clark joined the State Police in 2015.

Trooper Clark, of Troupsburg, NY, was 29 years old. He graduated from the 203rd session of the Basic School on September 3, 2015, and was originally assigned to Troop C/SP Ithaca and Troop E/SP Auburn before receiving his current assignment at Troop E/SP Bath. He is survived by his mother, father and brother.
