Sheldon Silver (Temporarily) Avoids Prison Yet Again

Former New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver has lost his last stay-out-of-prison appeal, but now he has received a temporary stay until the motions panel rules on his request for bail pending appeal, according to the Daily News.

Silver was supposed to surrender to federal authorities on October 5th. Now, it's unclear when Silver will go to prison.

He was sentenced to seven years in prison for taking nearly $4 million in illegal payments in exchange for official actions on behalf of two real estate developers and a Columbia University cancer researcher.
