As the deadly California wildfires continue to burn, the American Red Cross is lending aid those in need. '
Locally, Managing Partner Alex Tronco of Northwestern Mutual-Tronco Financial Group in Latham has pledged to donate to the Eastern New York chapter of Red Cross in the form of a challenge grant. Tronco will match donations, up to $10,000, through Wednesday, November 21st.
Tronco says it's a way to keep the story on people's minds as more help is needed, "A lot of times, when things happen, I mean to do well by contributing or helping out. But then the moment passes and then we get busy and life goes on, and unless you watch the news again you kind of forget about it."
Kevin Coffey, Chief Development Officer for the American Red Cross of Eastern New York says financial donations help the organization get resources to those in need, "The quickest way people can make a contribution is to make a financial donation. That allows us to purchase materials locally and infuse money into the local economy. Logistically, it's so much easier for us to have those resources on hand in that community to make a difference."
