New York Oncology Hematology is reporting that an unauthorized user may have gained access to several employee email accounts, through a series of phishing emails earlier this year.
The attack is thought to have occurred between April 20 and April 27.
An outside forensic firm determined that one or more of the affected email accounts contained protected health information and other personal information of patients and employees.
The investigation found no indication of access to, or attempted misuse of patient or employee information.
However, out of an abundance of caution, patients of all seven New York Oncology Hematology's locations are being notified.
