Latham Contractor Faces Long-Term Prison Sentences

A Latham contractor will spend the next 3.5 to 12 years in prison for defrauding minority-owned businesses, state and local contracting agencies, and employees.

Michael Martin, Former President of Eastern Building and Restoration Inc., will also need to pay $800,000 to the victims of his crimes.

Attorney General Barbara Underwood's office says Martin admitted to identity theft of two minority-owned businesses. and theft of prevailing wage benefits of over 50 employees.

Martin was sentenced in Schenectady County Court, in connection with the theft from one of those minority-owned businesses, Precision Environmental Solutions.

He is expected to be sentenced to 1-3 years, in connection with his scheme to defraud employees, contracting agencies, and insurance companies, in Albany County Court on December 10th.

The sentence is expected to run concurrent to the Schenectady sentence.

His Co-Defendant, Dr. Scott Henzel, will be sentenced in January, after pleading guilty to failing to pay prevailing rate-of-wage.
