Speaker Pelosi Asks the President to Delay State of the Union Address

Democratic House Leader Nancy Pelosi Holds Her Weekly News Conference

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is asking the President to delay the State of the Union Address.

In a letter to President Trump, Pelosi said the annual speech should be delayed until after the partial government shutdown is resolved. The address is currently scheduled for January 29th. Pelosi said it should either be rescheduled or submitted in writing to members of Congress.  

She cited security concerns related to the government shutdown.
