The deaths of two people inside a Guilderland home has been ruled a murder suicide. Police say 27 year old Caitlin Melville shot and killed her 5 year old daughter before turning the gun on herself. Both were found dead inside 169 Schoolhouse Road Friday afternoon. The child, whose name was not released, was a kindergarten student at Westmere Elementary School. Guilderland police did not provide details about any motive and are continuing to investigate. The Superintendent of the Guilderland Central School District released a statement Saturday to say counselors, school psychologists and social workers will be available throughout the district for students, faculty and staff for a long as needed.
