Erie County Clerk Michael Kearns will be filing a federal lawsuit against Governor Cuomo and State Attorney General Letitia James.
Kearns is challenging the recently passed Green Light Bill that the state legislature passed, and Governor Cuomo signed without fanfare an hour after it passed the State Senate last month.
The bill allows illegal immigrants to apply for drivers licenses in New York State. Kearns says that the legislation allows illegal immigrants to remain in this country, and aims to shield them from detection by immigration officials.
Kearns also says the law compels County Clerks across the state to violate federal law.
