The Guardian Angels will be back on Albany's streets starting Thursday night with the blessing of the police department and Chief Eric Hawkins, according to Founder Curtis Sliwa. He tells WGY they'll concentrate their efforts in Arbor Hill and the South End, saying it's no secret that the department is understaffed right now.

Sliwa says his group now has a liaison with the police department and he's received assurances that Albany police will work and communicate with them. He hopes to continue patrols with a mix of Albany and New York City members until about Halloween.
