Schenectady D.A. says Woman Killed in Niskayuna Was the "Aggressor"

Schenectady County District Attorney Bob Carney held a news conference Thursday on the Memorial Day shooting death of 21-year-old Ayanna Hunter at a picnic at the Hillcrest Village West Apartments in Niskayuna.

Carney says the shooting of Hunter at the picnic was a "justifiable shooting" after Hunter fired first and was deemed "the aggressor." Carney said that after Hunter fired the first shots, Wayne Brown and Pierre Thompson then fired back.

Both Brown and Thompson face criminal possession of a weapon charges and tampering with evidence because they hid the gun, however they will not face charges for her death.

Hunter's stepfather, Jason Sellie, is accused of attempted murder against Brown. Carney said on July 4th, Sellie shot Brown in the torso.
