State Trooper Shoots, Kills Hamilton County Man After Hatchet Attack

State Police say that a Tuesday night incident in Hamilton County resulted in a man being shot to death by a State Trooper. Police say that 55-year-old Daniel Condon of Arietta, NY attacked Trooper Ryan Mousaw with a hatchet after troopers responded to a house for reports of an unstable person.

Trooper Mousaw tried to take Condon to the hospital for evaluation but Condon struggled free and then he struck the trooper in the head with a hatchet.

Mousaw fired his gun and shot and killed Condon. Mousaw taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville for treatment for a cut to his head and a sprained right arm and wrist. He was treated and released.
