Governor Andrew Cuomo went to Washington Thursday to meet with President Trump, after New Yorkers were suspended from a trusted traveler program. Despite the Department of Homeland Security's claim that the move is rooted in safety.
The feds recently banned New Yorkers from enrolling or renewing in Global Entry, which allows for quick passage through customs when re-entering the country. They say it's for safety reasons because of New York's new Green Light Law, which allows illegal immigrants to get driver licenses, but blocks federal authorities from accessing DMV records. Governor Cuomo has said he'll offer partial access to DMV records, limited to those applying for Global Entry.
