New York Put on PAUSE Amid Pandemic

Governor Cuomo is ordering all non-essential business employees to stay home in New York State.

On Thursday Cuomo ordered that 75% of employees stay home, but Friday's mandate comes after consulting with officials in other countries with a coronavirus outbreak. "Only essential businesses can have workers commuting to the job or on the job," Cuomo said of an executive order being signed Friday.

The mandate is being called "NYS on PAUSE" (Policies Assure Uniform Safety for Everyone) to slow the spread of coronavirus.

Non-essential gatherings of individuals of any size will have to be canceled or postponed.

Outside activity should be limited to solitary activities such as walking or hiking.
