It appears the Capital Region is getting very close to being able to start reopening its economy. Governor Cuomo said Sunday the area has reached six of the seven benchmarks needed for that to happen. Once the region has enough contact tracers, the first phase of the four-phase process can begin.
Previously, the area had too many deaths and hospitalizations connected to the coronavirus. But, the state re-calibrated those metrics and said the area can reopen safely should the number of people affected by the illness remain low.
