Governor Cuomo signs legislation and issued an executive order today addressing criminal justice and police reform.

Cuomo signed into law the repeal of 50A, the decades old law which made police misconduct records private.

The reforms also include the ban of chokeholds and mandating state police wear body cameras.

The executive order signed by Governor Cuomo requires local government and police agencies to develop a plan that reinvents and modernizes police strategies and programs in their community.

The plan must be enacted by local law by April 1st, 2021 in order to receive funding from the state.
