New York Nursing Home Visitation Rules Relaxed

The State Department of Health announces revised guidelines for nursing home visitation.

Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker announced Tuesday that nursing homes throughout New York will be allowed to resume limited visitations for facilities that have been without COVID-19 for at least 14 days. This is a revision to the 28 day guidance that was previously set by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This updated guidance will allow eligible visitation in approximately 500 of the state's 613 nursing homes.

The new guidelines will go into effect Thursday.
