Two men were arraigned in Albany on Wednesday in connection to violent riots in the city.
District Attorney David Soares announced that 39-year-old Dwight Parker of Troy was arraigned on the following felony charges:
(1) Count of Attempted Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer as a Crime of Terrorism
(1) Count of Attempted Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer
(1) Count of Attempted Assault in the First Degree
(1) Count of Arson in the Third Degree
(1) Count of Riot in the First Degree
(1) Count of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree
The indictment alleges that on May 30th, Parker threw a Molotov cocktail at four police officers on horseback during a riot in the area of South Pearl and Arch Streets.
It also alleges that Parker and 25-year-old Ah-Juan Boyd of Albany set fire to a tractor trailer in the area of South Pearl and Westerlo Streets on the same evening.
Parker pleaded not guilty to the charges and remains in custody.
Ah-Juan Boyd was also indicted for attempting to set fire to an Albany police vehicle on June 1st in the area of First Street and Henry Johnson Boulevard.
Boyd pleaded not guilty to arson, attempted arson and criminal mischief charges and remains released on his own recognizance, as the charges are not considered qualifying offenses under current bail statutes.
Two other co-defendants, Imari Allen and Shalene Allen were previously arrested and charged with Riot in the First Degree. Their cases remain open and pending.
