United Way Still Finding Ways to Help the Poor and Working Poor in the 518

The United Way estimates that about 41 percent of Capital Region families are earning less than what is needed for a basic "survival" budget. In this episode of Upstate Issues Diane Donato talks with Peter Gannon, CEO United Way of the Greater Capital Region about the additional pressures the pandemic has put on the poor and the working poor. Gannon points out that many of the essential workers that helped get us through the worst of the pandemic are not making enough to pay their monthly bills for childcare, housing and healthcare. He also talks about the ways volunteers who are working with the United Way are making a difference. For example, The Stuff the Bus Baby Shower was a great success.
