President Trump is saying New York state won't get the COVID vaccine delivered next year because of criticism from Governor Cuomo. Trump made his first public remarks in more than a week and praised Operation Warp Speed, the administration's program to speed development of a vaccine. Trump said, quote, "[[Cuomo]] will have to let us know when he's ready for it because otherwise, we can't be delivering it to a state that won't be giving it to its people immediately."
Cuomo and Trump have traded insults in the media for months, with Cuomo recently telling radio personality Howard Stern he would have "decked" Trump over insults if he weren't governor.
Governor Cuomo is responding to President Trump's remarks that the COVID-19 vaccine will be distributed everywhere but New York. Speaking on MSNBC, Cuomo said an overwhelming number of Americans think the COVID vaccine was politicized and that is why he wants an independent panel to review it. In addition, Cuomo says the panel will be reviewing it concurrently as the government, so the vaccine will be ready to go and there will be no delay. Cuomo also says he wants to be able to say to New Yorkers, "trust the vaccine."
