Drivers who travel the Thruway without an E-Z Pass now have some extra incentive to get one.

The State Thruway Authority voted yesterday to approve a 30% rate hike and two-dollar surcharge for those without the device. People who don't have E-Z Pass will get a bill in the mail since the 570-mile highway is now cashless. The change will go into effect January 1st, but current E-Z Pass users won't be affected.
