State lawmakers are holding a special session Monday to make sure New Yorkers can't be removed from their homes for at least the next few months.
The Senate and Assembly are set to vote on legislation extending a ban on evictions from January 1st until May 1st. The bill will protect people who are at risk of not having a place to stay due to COVID-19 or financial hardship. Governor Cuomo has already expressed support for the measure.
