Capital Region Bracing For Bitter Cold Temperatures This Weekend

People across the Capital Region will be bundling up this weekend as bitter cold blankets the area.

The National Weather Service says temperatures are going to be well below freezing the next couple of days with wind chills of up to 25 degrees below zero in some locations. Area shelters are going to be opening up their doors to make sure homeless residents have a warm place to stay. Anyone who does have to be outside is being reminded to use caution and dress in multiple layers.

Friday - Windy and bitterly cold with times of clouds and sunshine, high 13

Friday night - Mainly clear and frigid, low at or below zero

Saturday - Sunshine and still quite cold, high 15

Sunday - Sunshine followed by clouds, high 18

Monday into Tuesday - Mostly cloudy with the chance of snow showers, high Monday 28, Tuesday's high 29
