The state budget deadline is one week away, and there are quite a few things to work out before a deal is done.
Among the issues lawmakers and the governor's office are focusing on include taxes, higher education, housing and health care. Earlier this week, state Budget Director Robert Mujica said many of the cuts proposed by the governor earlier this year likely won't be needed. That's because the state has benefited from increased tax revenues and billions of dollars in aid from the federal government.
