New York and New Jersey lead the nation with the highest coronavirus infection rates.
State health data shows Orange and Rockland counties have positivity rates over 6% to lead New York. In the Big Apple, the head of the city's Health committee Mark Levine is now calling for extra vaccine doses for states being hit hard by variants. New York City's Public Advocate Jumaane Williams is calling on Governor Cuomo to slow down the reopening plans. In New Jersey, there's been a 37 % increase in new infections over the last month. The infection rate in the Garden State is over 8.5 %. Some experts say the variants are to blame for high rates.
