Former New York Giants head coach Jim Fassel, who led the team to a Super Bowl appearance in 2001, has passed away at age 71.
His son says Fassel died of a heart attack Monday in Las Vegas. A friend had taken him to the hospital after he complained of chest pains. Fassel coached the Giants from 1997-2003. He won coach of the year in 1997, and then led the team to Super Bowl 35. The Giants lost that game to the Baltimore Ravens.
