The American Red Cross is urging people across the area to roll up their sleeves and give the gift of life.
The agency says it's currently dealing with a massive shortage in blood donations. They say blood is needed to help people suffering from medical problems and that in some cases, a lack of supply is forcing hospitals to do fewer elective surgeries until there's enough blood available for patients.
