Gov. Hochul Says New York State Will Welcome Refugees From Afghanistan

Governor Hochul says New York State will welcome refugees from Afghanistan who are currently trying to flee the Taliban.

In a statement, the governor also said that the Empire State is looking to serve as a beacon of hope and refuge for people in need. Between October 2020 and July, over 100 of the refugees who settled in New York were Afghans. Anyone who needs help can contact the state refugee Services and Office for New Americans hotline at 1-800-566-7636 between the hours of 9:00 am and 8:00 pm Monday through Friday, except holidays.
