Recently released U.S. Census Bureau data shows a decline in population in the Albany metro population. The Bureau of Economic Analysis shows that the Capital Region is below the national average in cost of living by 0.7%. Even with that, there was a population decrease of 0.4% noted between 2017 and 2020. The trend noted by a report from Roofstock shows that affordable U.S. cities experienced a sharp increase in population over that same time period.
