Schumer Requests Assistance to Fight Record Breaking Mosquito Activity

Senator Chuck Schumer says he wants to fight what many say has become one of the worst Mosquito seasons across New York State.

Schumer says he has plans to ensure the state continues to receive resources from the Environmental Protection Agency, and funding from the Centers for Disease Control. Schumer says that many communities in Upstate New York have been receiving record levels of mosquito activity, with some cases of West Nile Virus Schumer says that the mosquito borne disease West Nile Virus, continues to grow, and this could last into the fall because of the very wet summer and climate change. He has officially requested a 61 % increase in annual funding for CDC's Vector Borne Disease programs which includes West Nile.
