A former Saratoga County deputy sheriff will be spending the next 16 years behind bars after sexually assaulting two young girls.
On Monday, a judge sentenced 42-year-old Steven Willetts for abusing his victims and using his position as a deputy sheriff to intimidate them by claiming they were being watched by law enforcement at school and other locations. Willetts pleaded guilty back in July to assaulting the girls over a period of several months between March 2009 and June 2011. Willets had the opportunity to speak in court Monday but declined.
