A significant update on a shooting in Rensselaer on Tuesday morning on Washington Avenue.
The shooter is now being identified as Michael Barone, a former Albany Police Lieutenant and a former candidate for City Court Judge.
Rensselaer Police say Barone shot another man in the leg and then drove him to Albany Medical Center to be treated.
Barone is being charged with attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.
He was arraigned in North Greenbush Town Court and sent to the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
