The CEO of General Electric has announced a major change to the company's future that could affect workers in the Capital Region.

On Tuesday, Lary Culp Junior said GE will be splitting into three companies and those units will focus on aviation, healthcare, and energy. Right now, the Schenectady campus serves as the home of both GE Renewable Energy and GE Power which will be merged into GE Digital starting in 2024. GE also has a global research lab in Niskayuna and GE Healthcare has a digital X-ray assembly plant in North Greenbush. There's no word if any jobs are going to be cut when the company splits.
