A 46-year-old Albanian immigrant will announce today that he will take on Senator Chuck Schumer next year as the Democrat tries to win a fifth term.
Republican Aleksander Mici, who fled communism in his native Albania in 1991 says he knows it's a long shot campaign, but believes 2022 will be a great year for Republicans like himself. Mici, who lives in the Bronx, and has run failed campaigns for the City Council and Senate. Though he but believes Democrats are so unpopular now that he could pull off a huge upset over Schumer in 2022.
