A Protest in Albany Held this afternoon. Saratoga Black Lives Matter helped to organize the protest that happened at 1PM in the area of New Scotland and Dana Avenue. That's where Jordan Young was shot by Albany Police about a week ago. Police had been sent to the area to investigate reports of an armed home invasion. While in the area, Police saw a man with a knife, and they asked the man, Jordan Young to drop the knife. Police say that Young charged the officers, with the knife and Police shot Young who was critically injured. Albany Police Chief Eric Hawkins says body cam and video footage showed he use of force by Albany Police was unavoidable and warranted. Protestors say that many Police officers knew that Jordan Young has mental health issues and that Chief Hawkins should resign, and a special prosecutor should be appointed to investigate the events of January 24th when Young was shot.
