The American Red Cross has issued a list of safety tips to help make sure everyone has a safe Independence Day.
The agency says anyone who is planning to visit a beach should keep an eye on the weather conditions and only swim when there's a lifeguard on duty. For folks who are going to be cooking their holiday meals on a grill, it's recommended that they keep the grill away from homes and trees in order to avoid starting a fire. Finally, anyone who is checking out a fireworks display should keep a distance of 500 feet away from those pyrotechnics and wear earplugs to protect their hearing.
