New York State is launching a bonus program for health care workers.

Governor Hochul announced Wednesday that the $1.3 billion-initiative will go towards paying recruitment and retention bonuses for certain employees in the industry. Workers must make less than $125,000 a year and remain in their position for at least six months in order to be eligible for the extra payout. Governor Hochul says health care workers are the foundation of our medical system and the sacrifices they made to lead us through challenging times need to be acknowledged.
