After extending them for multiple months, Governor Hochul has announced she's going to allow her COVID-19 emergency powers to expire.
As of Tuesday, there's no longer an executive order in effect giving the governor's office the authority to purchase pandemic-related goods and services without a competitive bidding process. And, an order that eased licensing rules so health care workers from out-of-state could work in the Empire State and expanded the list of people who can administer the COVID-19 vaccine is also scheduled to expire this month. The governor says she'll reinstate emergency orders if there's a sudden increase in coronavirus cases.
