The human remains discovered near the Burden Pond Preserve in Troy, New York, in October have been identified as those of Amanda King, a Bethlehem woman who had been missing since 2013. The identification was confirmed on November 21, 2024, through dental records and DNA analysis.

King was last seen leaving the Conifer Park Rehabilitation Center in Glenville on October 16, 2013. She was 27 years old at the time. Reports suggested she was seen in Albany, a city she was known to frequent, shortly before Thanksgiving of that year.

King had struggled with heroin addiction, which began during her high school years at Bethlehem Central High School. She made multiple attempts at rehabilitation, including her stay at Conifer Park. Her father, Arthur King, had long expressed concerns about her well-being and actively sought information about her whereabouts following her disappearance.

The investigation into King's disappearance and death is ongoing, with the Troy Police Department collaborating with the Albany Police Department and the New York State Police Cold Case Unit. The cause of death has not been disclosed. Anyone with information on this case is urged to come forward.

According to The Daily Gazette, the news of King's identification comes just two weeks after what would have been her 38th birthday.
