Arrest Made After Shots Fired at Rotterdam Walmart

Manief Mullins, a 24-year-old from Schenectady, was arrested following a shots fired incident at a Walmart in Rotterdam on Saturday (December 14). According to Rotterdam police, Mullins stole merchandise from the Walmart on Altamont Avenue and fired multiple rounds from a handgun in the parking lot while being pursued by security personnel. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

The police received reports of gunshots around 2:50 p.m., prompting a swift response from local authorities. Mullins, who is a New York State parolee, was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held in the Schenectady County Jail awaiting arraignment. He faces several charges, including reckless endangerment, first-degree robbery, and criminal possession of a weapon.

The Walmart was temporarily closed as officers conducted their investigation. A customer at the scene told CBS6 that people were being ushered out of the store due to the presence of an armed individual. The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, Schenectady police, and the Schenectady County Sheriff's Office.

News10 reported that Mullins was identified as the suspect through an investigation and was apprehended without further incident. The Rotterdam police have not yet disclosed where Mullins was apprehended or where he fled after the incident.
