A Milton man, Jacob Krall, was sentenced to seven years in prison on Thursday (December 19) for assaulting his three-month-old son in March 2023. The Saratoga County Court also imposed three years of probation following his release and a 15-year stay-away order from the child and the child's mother.

The assault occurred at Krall's home on Paisley Road, where the infant sustained severe brain injuries. First responders transported the baby to Albany Medical Center, where he remained for over a week. The child required extensive physical and occupational therapy for nearly a year.

During the trial, the jury examined over 100 pieces of evidence, including police audio recordings that captured the infant in distress. Saratoga County District Attorney Karen Heggen described the case as tragic, emphasizing the long-term impact on the child.

Judge James Murphy III, who delivered the sentence, noted Krall's inconsistent accounts of the incident and his lack of remorse. Despite Krall's attorney arguing for leniency due to Krall's young age and efforts to rehabilitate himself, the judge was unmoved.

The sentencing marks Judge Murphy's final case before retirement. The case was prosecuted by Special Victims' Unit Bureau Chief Jennifer Buckley, who highlighted the heroic actions of the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office during the emergency response.
