A 24-year-old woman from Troy named Jacklyn Parker, has been charged with felony criminally negligent homicide following a fatal crash in Selkirk last August. The incident occurred on August 19, 2024, when Parker's vehicle crossed the double yellow lines on River Road and collided with a car driven by 60-year-old Colleen Selkirk, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initially, Parker was charged with operating a motor vehicle while ability impaired by drugs. However, after a five-month investigation, the charge was elevated to criminally negligent homicide. According to NEWS10 ABC, the crash happened just south of Maple Avenue, and first responders arrived quickly, but Selkirk's condition was critical.

Parker and her passenger were taken to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. An inventory of Parker’s car revealed a quantity of marijuana, but her attorney, Kevin O’Brien, stated that a toxicology report does not support the initial charge of driving while ability impaired by drugs. O’Brien claims the crash was due to a medical incident suffered by Parker, though he did not provide further details.

Bethlehem police Deputy Chief James Rexford explained that the investigation took time due to the need for a thorough review by the Albany County district attorney’s office. Parker appeared in Bethlehem Town Court on Tuesday (January 7) and is scheduled to return on February 4.

The Times Union reported that Parker's attorney believes the case is defensible, emphasizing that Parker was not intoxicated at the time of the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing, and further updates are expected as the case progresses.
