Cohoes police are investigating a break-in at the city's high school that occurred on Sunday night (January 19). According to authorities, the incident involved vandalism in several areas of the school, including the principal's conference room, the librarian's office, and the main office. Some items were also reported stolen during the break-in.
The Cohoes School District has assured parents that the building has been cleaned and is safe for students and staff. Superintendent Peggy O'Shea emphasized the importance of respect within the community in response to the incident. "While this situation is disheartening, I want to use this unfortunate incident as an opportunity to reinforce the importance of respect – for our schools, our community, and each other," O'Shea stated.
Authorities believe the break-in was an isolated incident, but the investigation is ongoing. As of now, no arrests have been made. The Cohoes Police Department continues to work on the case, seeking any information that might lead to identifying the individuals responsible.
