After more than two decades of dedicated service, Paul Antonovich, the Assistant Chief of the Schenectady Police Department, is retiring. Antonovich's career in law enforcement began in July 2004 when he joined the Zone 5 Police Academy. Over the years, he has held various positions, including patrolman, Sergeant, and Lieutenant, before becoming Assistant Chief in January 2023.
Throughout his career, Antonovich played significant roles in different departments, such as the Investigative Services Bureau and the Office of Professional Standards. He also served as a Field Training Officer, tactical trainer, and member of the Special Operations Squad, eventually commanding the team from 2020 to 2023. In 2023, he graduated from the FBI National Academy and became a certified DCJS Procedural Justice Master Instructor.
Chief Eric Clifford praised Antonovich's leadership and dedication, stating that his presence will be missed. To honor his contributions, a walk-out ceremony will be held on Friday (January 24) at 3:00 PM at the Schenectady Police Department Headquarters.
