A 16-year-old boy has been indicted for second-degree murder in connection with a shooting at a house party in Schenectady. The incident occurred in October 2024 on Congress Street, where Dubar Knowles, a 15-year-old Schenectady High School student, was fatally shot. A 13-year-old girl was also seriously injured when the bullet that killed Knowles struck her in the head.

The Schenectady County District Attorney's Office announced the indictment, which includes charges of assault, criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, and tampering with physical evidence. The suspect, identified only as D.S. due to his age, was arraigned in the youth part of Schenectady Family Court and is being held at the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility.

According to Times Union, DNA evidence linked the teen to the crime, as the bullet that wounded the girl was found to have Knowles' DNA, indicating it passed through him first. The investigation was conducted by the Schenectady Police Department Youth Aid Bureau, with assistance from the district attorney's office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Task Force, and the New York State Police.

The defendant, represented by attorney Adam Parisi, is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Michael Nobles. Further court proceedings are pending.
