GE Vernova is making a significant investment in its Advanced Research Center in Niskayuna, with plans to spend over $105 million. This investment aims to support clean energy innovation, focusing on electrification and decarbonization, while also creating 75 new jobs at the site. Governor Kathy Hochul announced the initiative, emphasizing New York's role as a leading hub for clean energy research and development.
The investment will fund the construction of state-of-the-art laboratories and the expansion of existing facilities. These labs will focus on technologies such as carbon dioxide removal, alternative fuels for power generation, and enhancing the grid's resilience. GE Vernova's commitment to clean energy aligns with New York's climate agenda and aims to build a sustainable future.
Empire State Development has agreed to provide up to $9.635 million in tax credits to support the job creation effort. Additionally, the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority has been invited to apply for FAST NY grant funding to support infrastructure projects.
David Vernooy, Vice President of Advanced Research at GE Vernova, expressed excitement about the breakthroughs this investment will bring, stating that the company is ready to lead in advancing the world's energy transition. The investment also includes $15 million for artificial intelligence efforts and $88 million for Gas Power and Wind facilities in Schenectady.
