Albany police have arrested Elijah Thomas, 34, following a stabbing incident that occurred on Sunday night (February 2) in Albany. Officers responded to reports of a domestic dispute at a home on Sherman Street near Quail Street around 9:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a 31-year-old woman with stab wounds to her legs, hands, and torso. She was transported to Albany Medical Center, where she was last reported in stable condition.
The incident took place in the presence of two young children, who were unharmed. According to the police investigation, the stabbing resulted from a domestic-related dispute inside the home. Thomas was present at the scene when officers arrived and was taken into custody. He has been charged with several crimes, including attempted murder.
Thomas was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Monday morning and subsequently remanded to the Albany County Jail. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
